Mañana is a person-centred, support-first organisation that offers Improved Relationships supports under the NDIS. We aim to improve an ability to engage in everyday activities, ensure safety of clients and staekholders, and provide the necessary supports to increase regulation and reduce risk. We operate with a primary focus of of data driven intervention and person centred delivery/operations to the NDIS Behaviour Support Model.

Most importantly, we aim to support the participant – in whatever format they need!

Need more face to face support for co-regulation of a problem? – we are independent and can offer that time and discussion in any environment. Need advocacy within ther NDIS structure for support due to risk? – we can create data driven proof and assessments of need. Need evaluation of Restrictive Practices? We can assist in moving towards authorisation and best proactice fadeout.

Improved Relationships is at its base about improving the relationship to self, to others, to family, to services, to life! Our focus is on creating positive individualised strategies for people (with and without disabilities) who engage in behaviours of concern (BOC). These strategies include both preventative and reactive measures that are tailored to the individual’s needs and attributes. Our approach focuses on skill development, communication, environment management, stakeholder engagements, evaluation and fadeout of Restrictive Practices and more.

But more importantly, we aim to support the participant – in whatever format they need!

Need Strategies around the best support for a BOC and making the change? We have tools and support to help.

Need a Functional Behaviour Assessment, Behaviour Support Plan (BSP), Restrictive Practice Plan, or clincal function evaluation assessment (ABAS, Vineland) for access to advocacy within the NDIS or access to support ? We do that too.

Need staff training in best practice around behaviour understanding, RP’s, ISP’s, service delivery and complex support? – we do that to and would love to work with your on-ground support teams!

We do many things – worth a call to dicuss!

Yes, Improved Relationships is grounded in evidence-based strategies. We believe in using data-driven, person-centred supports that address the individualized needs of people, Ie what is actually happening and what is contributing to the effects on you – the cookie cutter approach of diagnostic/disability general intervention lacks person and environmented centered thingking. Our goal is to understand the underlying causes of behaviours of concern and provide specialist behaviour support while safeguarding the dignity and quality of life of our clients in YOUR setting, not ours.

We have noticed a worrying trend in the industry of NDIS certified Behaviour Support Practicioners operating from the “ivory tower”; inviting a client to be evaluated in a clincial setting for 2 sessions, creating a generic Behaviour Support Plan based on verbal history and diagnosis, then disappearing into the either after claiming 50hrs of support, leaving there pariticpants with plan that in no way helps support, manage or evaluate current BOC or intervening strategy.

If you can’t find your practicioner, if they never leave the office, if they put you or your person in a room once a month and talk about feelings but never engage the critical supports, environments or specific BOC – you should probably think about changing!

Mañana provides Disability Support services in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle areas. Central Coast, Muswellbrook and Nelson Bay regions if you have are or have a client in dire need, or subject to RP.
